Dr Maritz is a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon in Lower Limb orthopaedic surgery, with a focus on knee, and foot and ankle surgery.
He is based in Somerset West in Cape Town, South Africa, and practices from the new Busamed Paardevlei Private Hospital with new state-of-the-art technology. Dr Mark Maritz has fellowship experience in orthopaedics, both locally and internationally, including the prestigious Guys’ and St. Thomas’ hospital in London.
He has held positions as the Head of the Department of Orthopaedics in a hospital in Kwa-Zulu Natal, as well as the head of the Foot and Ankle unit at Stellenbosch University’s Faculty of Orthopaedics.
His field of interest includes knee replacements, sporting injuries to the knee and ankle, as well as a comprehensive range of foot and ankle pathologies. He has gained extensive experience in complex lower limb injuries.
He continues to teach and train orthopaedic surgeons both locally and internationally in foot and ankle surgery, specifically the new minimally invasive surgical techniques.
