Dr Maritz is a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon with extensive experience in managing complex lower limb and foot pathologies. He is based in Somerset West in Cape Town, South Africa, where he is in full-time private practice at Busamed Paardevlei Private Hospital.
Dr Maritz has a keen interest in the new minimally invasive / keyhole surgical techniques, with several years of experience. He does consultancy on an international platform, and trains surgeons on minimally invasive techniques, both locally and globally. He regularly presents international courses and congresses on foot and ankle procedures. His expertise includes sport related soft tissue injuries and robotic assisted knee replacements, with Busamed Paardevlei being groundbreakers in this technology in the Helderberg area.
Dr Maritz has fellowship experience in orthopaedics, both locally and internationally, including the prestigious Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital in London. He has previously held positions as the Head of the Department of Orthopaedics in a busy Durban hospital, as well as the Head of the Foot and Ankle unit at Stellenbosch University’s Faculty of Orthopaedics. He has been in private practice at Busamed Paardevlei Private Hospital since 2017.
